The Social Security has published the RED News Bulletin 07/2024

Updates: a new additional solidarity contribution effective from January 2025, bonuses linked to the 37th America's Cup in Barcelona, adjustments to employment incentives in Ceuta and Melilla, and updates on indefinite contracts for low-qualified youth under the National Youth Guarantee System.

Additional Solidarity Contribution (Effective January 2025)

A new contribution will be introduced for employees whose earnings exceed the maximum contribution base. This solidarity contribution will be applied progressively across income brackets, starting at 5.5% for earnings above 10% of the base, and increasing up to 7% for higher brackets. The contribution will be shared between employers and employees.

Bonuses Related to the 37th America's Cup

New contribution bonuses are introduced for businesses and workers involved in the organisation of the upcoming America's Cup in Barcelona. Employers can apply for these bonuses, covering 100% of contributions under certain conditions, through procedures set by the Social Security.

Employment Incentives in Ceuta and Melilla

The new regulations modify existing labour benefits, offering a 50% reduction in Social Security contributions for companies in specific sectors operating in Ceuta and Melilla. This applies to a range of industries, excluding public administration and financial services, with the aim of supporting socio-economic development in these regions.

Indefinite Contracts for Low-Qualified Youth (End of Incentive)

The employment incentive for indefinite contracts for low-qualified individuals under 30, registered in the National Youth Guarantee System, will end on 1 September 2024. Contracts signed before this date will continue to benefit from a €275 monthly bonus for up to three years.

Extensions for Workers in La Palma

The bulletin also extends certain exemptions and temporary employment regulations (ERTEs) for companies and workers in La Palma affected by the volcanic eruption. Companies may apply for a 100% exemption from Social Security contributions until the end of 2024 for workers in specific affected areas.

New Digital Services for Employers

The Social Security office has introduced new functionalities in its electronic services, allowing businesses to modify information about their linked individuals and access detailed reports on affiliated companies and employees.

Changes in Reporting Educational Benefits for Employees' Children

Updates on how companies report educational services provided to employees' children are introduced. From October 2024, companies must declare the marginal cost of these services in their contribution reports, affecting how the contribution base is calculated.
